Unlike some alternative methods of creating a family, the surrogacy process allows
a child to be biologically related to either one or (in the case of In Vitro Fertilization)
both parents. It also gives the couple the opportunity to become involved in the
pregnancy itself. And finally, since their child is conceived only because of their
own existence, the true genesis of the child is its creation in the minds and hearts
of the couple.
Advances in modern medicine have given couples many choices in creating their own
family. Just because a particular method is available does not mean it is right
for you. During the consultation at our offices, available options will be explored
and compared so that you can decide which is the best option for you. Third Party Reproduction has made available three options to infertile couples:
1. In Vitro
Fertilization/Gestational Surrogacy(IVF) Program:
Ovum and sperm of couple are combined to create embryos that are implanted into
the uterus of the surrogate mother. In most states the names of intended biological
father and intended biological mother are entered on the original birth certificate.
2. IVF &
Egg Donation (IVF/ED) Program:
Ovum from a donor is fertilized with sperm of the intended biological father. Resulting
embryos are implanted into the uterus of the surrogate. In most states the name
of intended biological father and intended mother are entered onto the original
birth certificate.
3. Artificial
Insemination/Traditional Surrogacy(AI) Program:
The surrogate is inseminated with the sperm of the intended biological father. In
some states the names of intended biological father and intended/mother are entered
on the original birth certificate. Other states require intended mother to participate
in a step-parent adoption to enable her name to be entered on the birth certificate.
The Center for Surrogate Parenting, Inc. (CSP) is a world-renowned
surrogate parenting program with offices in Encino, California, and Annapolis, Maryland.
CSP was established because we strongly believe that couples who are ready and willing
to take on the responsibility of parenthood deserve that opportunity. Having a child
with the help of a surrogate can be an exciting and fulfilling way to meet that
need.
Founding director, Bill Handel, started his practice of surrogacy in 1980, through
the Law Offices of William Handel. In 1986, the Center for Surrogate Parenting,
Inc., was incorporated. Bill Handel and Karen Synesiou are the co-directors and
co-owners of CSP. In our over
years of helping infertile couples become parents, we have celebrated the birth
of over 1,000 babies.
We believe that surrogate parenting should be a collaboration of professionals who
guide the entire process. The team should consist of doctors, psychologists or psychotherapists,
attorneys and an agency that is the liaison between all the participants. CSP has
created a "team" that is unsurpassed anywhere in the world. CSP is unique because
we have created a team that is involved with each surrogacy arrangement from beginning
to end.
CSP has a worldwide reputation as being the leader in the field of surrogacy and
egg donation. We are proud of our practice of always looking after our surrogate
mothers and their family.
