How Do Age, Weight, and Exercising Habits Influence Fertility?
Infertility is something that affects many women in this country. There are many different things that can alter the chances of conception. Some of these are age, weight and exercise habits. We deal with surrogacy here, but this information about influencing fertility is valid for couples trying to conceive through traditional means as well.
Age is a huge factor in conceiving. A woman hits her fertility peak in her early 20s. The ability to conceive after 30 is reduced, and there are also a lot of risks to the baby with pregnancy at this age, including chromosomal defects like Down’s Syndrome and Trisomy issues.
Age is not just a factor with women and pregnancy, either. As men age, their testosterone levels decrease, as does their supply of sperm. If you or your partner are over the age of 30, then that could pose a factor in your fertility struggles.
This is a tricky area. Obesity is a factor that can keep a woman from conceiving, and could cause major complications during pregnancy like high blood pressure and back problems. That being said, it is also not a good thing for a woman to be too thin. Underweight women tend to have issues with conceiving due to hormonal imbalances and malfunctioning reproductive systems. You want to have a healthy target weight in mind, which is best achieved through a healthy diet.
Exercise is important for everyone, and that includes women who are trying to conceive and women who are pregnant. If you are trying to get pregnant, then you will want to avoid high intensity workouts like sprinting or marathon running. Such high amounts of exertion can change your ovulation cycle and this can cause issues with conceiving. Once pregnant, you will also want to stick with low-intensity workouts. Staying active at every stage of life will be good for your weight, your lungs, and your heart.
