Barbara Beard Cohen, LCSW-C, is a licensed certified social worker-clinical.
She specializes in the psychological aspects of reproductive health problems and third party reproduction. Her experience in infertility and adoption are on both professional and personal levels.
Barbara has been in the counseling field since 1974. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Community Planning in 1987. Her work has focused on womens’ health and family issues, including infertility and adoption, crisis intervention, surrogacy, and third party reproduction.
In addition to her affiliation with the Center for Surrogate Parenting, Barbara maintains a private practice in Annapolis, Maryland. She provides therapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Her clinical work also includes assessments for donors and recipients in egg donation and surrogacy, counseling on traditional and gestational surrogacy, and counseling for couples pursuing adoption. She provides consultation and staff training for fertility clinics, and is a consultant to RESOLVE and a professional member of the Mental Health Professional’s Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Barbara lives near Annapolis, Maryland, with her husband and three children.
