Karen received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree from Azusa Pacific University.
In 1976 she completed her undergraduate studies majoring in psychology and education. Since the completion of her Masters Degree, 1989, in Marriage and Family Therapy Karen has maintained a private practice in Laguna Niguel, California.
In addition to providing, individual, couple, and family counseling Karen is a consultant for CSP, Center for Surrogate Parenting, Inc. and for Egg Donation, Inc. As a clinical consultant Karen provides psychological screening, assessment and support to women who are interested in assisting infertile couples by way of third party reproductive services, namely egg donation, traditional surrogacy or gestational surrogacy. She counsels clients in San Diego and Orange Counties. (She primarily provides clinical services in San Diego, Inland Empire and Orange County)
Karen has been an adjunct professor for Azusa Pacific University, teaching several graduate courses for the Department of Professional Psychology, including Introduction to Clinical Practice and Legal, Ethical, and Moral Issues for Marital and Family Therapists. She is a member of the American Association of Marital and Family Therapists(AAMFT). Karen with her husband, Dennis A. Chernekoff, Ph.D., (and Joshua and Alexa, born 11/29/2004) make their home in south Orange County California.
