Interested in Becoming a Surrogate

What you need to know if you’re interested in becoming a surrogate

If you’re interested in becoming a surrogate, our surrogacy agency welcomes you with open arms. Helping others fulfill their dream of parenthood is one of the most generous and rewarding gifts, and we’re honored to help you learn more about it.

The basics of gestational surrogacy

When exploring whether becoming a surrogate is right for you, it’s important to fully understand the process before making your decision. Our experienced surrogacy team is here to answer all of your questions, so that you can be fully informed and supported as you contemplate giving the selfless gift of surrogacy to a deserving family.

What is gestational surrogacy? Gestational surrogacy is the process of carrying and delivering a baby for another couple or individual who cannot achieve pregnancy on their own. You will not be biologically related to the child. To achieve pregnancy, a fertility doctor transfers an embryo created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) to your uterus through a simple procedure. This embryo may have been created using an egg and/or sperm from one or more intended parents, or it may have been created with the help of an egg, sperm or embryo donor. Either way, the intended parents will be eagerly awaiting that special moment when they finally get to meet the baby they have longed for – and you will be the one who makes that moment possible.

What are the requirements? If you’re interested in becoming a surrogate with CSP, it’s easy to verify that you meet our basic requirements before you apply. You must be a healthy woman between the ages of 21 and 42, have at least one child you are currently raising, and have a source of income (in addition to any government assistance you may be receiving).

We also require surrogates to be non-smokers, free of medications for anxiety or depression for at least one year, and have a BMI (body mass index) of 31 or less. If you meet these criteria, which ensure that surrogacy is safe for you and your family, we encourage you to apply to become a CSP surrogate and begin the most meaningful journey of your lifetime.

Other important questions to ask if you’re interested in becoming a surrogate

Our surrogacy agency knows that you and your family will have many questions about what is involved in becoming a surrogate and what the experience will be like. Our team has been working with surrogates and intended parents for more than four decades, and we are delighted to share all of our experience with you to help you make an informed decision. We have team members who were surrogates themselves who are happy to guide you through this process.

How will I be supported? Because the key to a successful surrogate pregnancy is a healthy and happy surrogate, supporting you is our top priority. We guide you through each step of the surrogacy journey, making sure you feel supported medically, emotionally and financially. We’re always here to provide answers and resources, and to facilitate communication between you, your medical care providers, and the hopeful parents. You will have a full-time mental health professional working with you and your intended parent(s) during the entire journey together.

Are there financial benefits? Absolutely. We believe that becoming a surrogate is one of the most altruistic things a woman can do, and we want to reward you and make sure that you have the resources you need to take care of your own family. While there are various factors that affect compensation, our surrogates typically receive between $46,000 and $68,000, plus reimbursement of expenses incurred during this journey.

How do I decide if surrogacy is right for me? When deciding if you’re interested in becoming a surrogate, it’s important to discuss your decision with those closest to you. Our team can provide a lot of objective information to help you make an informed choice, but we recommend first talking with your partner and support system, as they will likely play an integral role in supporting you throughout the process. If you know women who have been surrogates, it can also be helpful to ask them about their experiences.

If you have any additional questions, the compassionate and knowledgeable team at our surrogacy agency is happy to help you get the answers you need.
